Crockett may support AOC over Schumer, and Questions 2028 Elections We May Not Even Have Elections’

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) sidestepped questions on Sunday about whether she would support Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in a potential 2028 primary challenge against Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), instead suggesting that the future of U.S. elections remains uncertain.
Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Crockett told host Jake Tapper, “That’s four years from now… We don’t even know what elections will look like in four years, if we will have elections.” She added that while she could not commit to an endorsement, many Democrats are closely watching Schumer’s leadership at this critical moment.
According to The Hill, speculation over an Ocasio-Cortez challenge has persisted for years, especially as Schumer faces internal criticism for not blocking a GOP-led continuing resolution on government funding. Crockett noted that voters in New York and beyond may be looking for “younger, fresher leadership” by 2028, fueling further discussion about a generational shift within the Democratic Party.
