Minnesota Governor Tim Walz addressed a Democratic crowd in South Carolina, urging party members to adopt a more aggressive approach toward President Donald Trump.
During his keynote speech, Walz told attendees the party needs to be “meaner” and should “bully the shit” out of Trump.
“Maybe it’s time for us to be a little meaner, a little bit more fierce,” Walz said.
The governor, a former public school teacher, drew comparisons between addressing childhood bullying and dealing with Trump.
“The thing that bothers a teacher more than anything is to watch a bully,” Walz explained. “When it’s a child, you talk to them and tell them why bullying is wrong. But when it’s an adult like Donald Trump, you bully the shit out of him back.”
Tim Walz described Trump as a “wannabe dictator” and called him “the existential threat we knew was coming.” He encouraged Democrats to resist Trump’s policies, stating, “We’ve got the guts and we need to push back on the bullies and the greed.”
Despite the aggressive rhetoric, Walz encouraged Democrats to maintain a positive outlook, telling them to “have some fun and be joyful.”
The governor criticized Trump-supported legislation referred to as the “big beautiful bill.” Walz said, “I used to teach fourth grade, and I was going to say it sounded like something a fourth grader came up with, but that would be insulting to my fourth graders.”
Tim Walz recently drew criticism for comments about Tesla’s stock performance related to Elon Musk’s leadership. The remarks became controversial after reports revealed Minnesota’s pension fund holds Tesla shares. Walz later described himself as a “smartass” and characterized his comments as jokes.
