A man has been arrested in Washington, D.C., after allegedly pointing a laser at Marine One while President Donald Trump was on board.

Secret Service officers identified the suspect as Jacob Samuel Winkler, 33, who was seen acting erratically near the White House on Saturday. According to court filings, Winkler aimed a red laser pointer at Marine One as it flew overhead and later pointed it at an officer who approached him.

He has been charged with knowingly aiming a laser at an aircraft, a federal offense carrying a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Authorities said he was also carrying a fixed-blade knife at the time of his arrest.

Officials warned that pointing lasers at aircraft can cause flash blindness or disorientation for pilots, creating serious safety risks. Winkler remains in custody pending further proceedings.
