US Secretary of war Pete Hegseth has Called hundreds of US generals and senior US officers to a rare meeting next week at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, Pentagon officials said.

The order, first reported by CNN, applies to commanders with one-star rank and above, along with their top advisers on the list.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that Hegseth “will speak with his senior military leaders early next week,” but did not provide details on the agenda.

Officials told Reuters that the sudden order had forced commanders to reorganize schedules and work assignments around the world.

Some expressed uncertainty about the size of the attendance and whether every senior officer would have to attend in person.

The meeting’s abrupt nature and lack of transparency fueled speculation that Hegseth could announce new strategic priorities, further institutional reforms, or changes to the military’s command structure.

Officials warn that gathering so many senior officers in one place raises high security risks and questions about the purpose and timing as well.
