On Tuesday, Vice President JD Vance delivered a landmark speech in France, outlining America’s vision for innovation in the AI industry. He highlighted four key points about AI and urged European partners to embrace the technology with optimism rather than “trepidation.”
Speaking at the AI summit in Paris, JD Vance championed the Trump administration’s America First policies, asserting unequivocally that the U.S. is the global leader in AI and intends to maintain that position.
JD Vance expressed gratitude to French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for co-hosting the summit. He emphasized that his focus was on exploring AI opportunities, not just AI safety, noting that previous conferences had been overly cautious in their approach.
“Our administration, the Trump administration, believes AI holds the potential for countless revolutionary applications—driving economic innovation, job creation, national security, healthcare advancements, free expression, and more,” JD Vance stated. “Restricting its development now would not only unfairly favor existing players in the field but also stifle one of the most transformative technologies of our time.”
Vance made four clear points as to where America stands on AI.
JD Vance added, “We believe AI will make us more productive, more prosperous, and more free. America is the leader in AI, and our administration is determined to maintain that leadership. The U.S. excels across the entire AI ecosystem, from advanced semiconductor design to cutting-edge algorithms and transformative applications.”
To “protect America’s competitive edge,” Vance stated that the Trump administration will “ensure the most advanced AI systems are developed within the U.S., utilizing American-designed and manufactured semiconductors.” He also extended an invitation to international partners, including nations and companies, to collaborate with the U.S. in this rapidly evolving technological field.
