Mississippi Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann collapsed at the State Capitol in Jackson on Wednesday, February 19. Video footage from the Mississippi State floor showed Hosemann falling, prompting immediate concern.

Mississippi Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann suddenly collapsed on the Senate floor

A source told WJTV 12 News that Hosemann was able to stand up and remained conscious as emergency responders rushed to assist him. Despite the incident, Hosemann declined to be taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

Hosemann’s office released a statement following the incident, assuring the public that the  Mississippi Lieutenant Governor is doing well.

 Lieutenant Governor Hosemann is doing well and in good spirits. He appreciates all of the medical staff and is eager to return to work,” said Hannah C. Milliet, Communications Director for the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves and his wife expressed their concern and support for Hosemann. In a post on social media, Reeves wrote, “@firstladyofms and I are praying for Lieutenant Governor Hosemann!”

State Senator John Horhn also shared his thoughts, saying, “Everyone is hoping for the best for Lieutenant Governor Hosemann..
