Elon Musk predicted on Friday that U.S. Vice President JD Vance could one day become president, following in Donald Trump’s footsteps.
“Best VP ever and our future President,” Musk posted on X, his social media platform.

The billionaire entrepreneur, who was a key financial backer of Trump’s 2024 campaign, made a similar statement last week, saying, “Best VP ever and hopefully our future President.”
Since returning to the White House last month, President Trump has given Musk an influential role in reshaping the government, appointing him to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk has been tasked with cutting federal spending and restructuring agencies, giving him a level of power rarely seen in an unelected official.
Despite officially holding the title of “special government employee” and “senior adviser to the president,” Elon Musk has been a constant presence alongside Trump, often appearing more frequently than Vice President Vance.
JD Vance, who at 40 is one of the youngest vice presidents in U.S. history, has limited political experience, having served only one term as a senator before being tapped as Trump’s running mate.
During Trump’s first term, he was an outspoken critic, calling Trump a “moral disaster” and even comparing him to Adolf Hitler.
However, as he pursued a political career, JD Vance aligned himself with Trump, securing the former president’s endorsement in his 2022 Ohio Senate race—a move that ultimately helped propel him to the national stage.
