Chicago Labor Day Weekend Sees 54 Shot and 7 Killed

At least 54 people were shot and seven killed in Chicago over the Labor Day weekend, according to police reports. The violence spanned several neighborhoods and included multiple mass shooting incidents.

The surge in shootings came as Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker rejected an offer from President Donald Trump to send federal assistance, including the National Guard, to help address crime in the city.
