China, Japan, and South

China, Japan, and South Korea have agreed to coordinate their response to President Donald Trump’s upcoming tariffs, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported.

The three nations held their first economic talks in five years, pledging to promote fair trade and strengthen regional economic ties just days before the U.S. is set to announce sweeping tariffs on all trading partners.

Trump’s proposed “reciprocal tariffs” aim to match foreign import duties on American goods, with even longtime allies like South Korea not exempt. Meanwhile, China has already retaliated against Trump’s renewed 20% tariffs by imposing 15% duties on key U.S. agricultural imports, including chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton. The brewing trade conflict signals escalating tensions between Washington and its major Asian trading partners.
