Colombian leader Petro says, I don’t care, after U.S. Visa Revocation.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro responded defiantly to news that his U.S. visa had been revoked, posting on X “I don’t care” on social media and stating he considers himself “a free person in the world.”
He says on x I arrived in Bogotá. I no longer have a visa to travel to the USA. I don’t care. I don’t need a Visa but an ESTA, because I’m not only a Colombian citizen but also a European citizen, and in reality, I consider myself a free person in the world.
Humanity must be free all over the world. We have the human right to live on the planet. I am free and every human being must be free on earth.
Petro’s message followed the U.S. State Department’s decision to cancel his visa after he urged American soldiers to disobey orders during a protest in New York. That action, Washington claimed, was “reckless and incendiary.”
Petro also accused the U.S. of violating norms of diplomatic immunity and international law, arguing that the visa cancellation undermines principles that should protect heads of state participating in the U.N. General Assembly.
The Relations between Bogotá and Washington have been already soured over immigration disputes, the crackdown on cocaine crimes, and deportations. The revocation of Petro’s visa is likely to further heighten diplomatic tensions.
