DHS Sends Federal Immigration Agents to San Francisco Area for Enforcement Operation

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed it is deploying over 100 federal immigration agents to the San Francisco Bay Area, with personnel staging at the U.S. Coast Guard base in Alameda, authorities said Wednesday.
According to a DHS spokesperson, the move targets “the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens — including murderers, rapists, gang members, pedophiles and terrorists” in cities such as San Francisco.
Local officials and immigration advocates view the operation as part of a broader strategy by the Donald Trump administration to press sanctuary cities on enforcement.
Reports say the agent count is at least 100, and law enforcement sources say they will use the Alameda base as a “place of operations” beginning this week.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and California Governor Gavin Newsom denounced the deployment, arguing it is “authoritarian theatrics” and that the city is being targeted for political reasons.
Newsom warned of imminent legal action should troops or federal forces escalate in the city.
The city’s law enforcement agencies stated they will not cooperate with agents unless required by law and emphasized immigrant-community protections.
