FBI agents raided the home of former National Security Advisor John Bolton on Friday morning in Bethesda, Maryland.
The raid began at 7:00 a.m. with FBI personnel supported by Montgomery County police who sealed off the street. Bolton was present during the search but was not arrested.
FBI Director Kash Patel posted on social media at 7:00 a.m. stating “NO ONE is above the law” and “FBI agents on mission.”
The search is part of a national security investigation involving classified documents. Sources say the probe relates to Bolton’s 2020 book “The Room Where It Happened.”
Bolton served as Trump’s National Security Advisor from 2018 to 2019. He has been a critic of Trump since leaving the administration.
Trump revoked Bolton’s security clearance and protective detail in January 2025. The FBI has not commented on the scope of the investigation.
No charges have been filed against Bolton at this time
