Tim Walz Hints at 2028 Presidential Run

Former vice presidential candidate Tim Walz has hinted at a potential White House bid in 2028 following his and Kamala Harris’ loss to President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Speaking on the “New Yorker Radio Hour” on Sunday, Tim Walz acknowledged the possibility when pressed on the issue. “If I think I could offer somethingโ€ฆ I would certainly consider that,” he said, according to the Daily Mail. Walz, who has served as Minnesotaโ€™s governor since 2019, suggested that “if the circumstances are right,” he might enter the race. “I’ve always said this: I didn’t prepare my life to be in these jobs, but my life prepared me well,” he stated. “And if this experience I’ve had and what we’re going through right now prepares me for that, then I would.”

Tim Walz comments come amid speculation that Harris may also run again in 2028, potentially setting up a primary clash between the former running mates.

During the 2024 campaign, Tim Walz faced criticism over past misleading claims about his military service, including the rank at which he retired and the circumstances of his departure. Additionally, resurfaced statements in which he claimed to have been in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square Massacre despite being in the U.S. at the time drew scrutiny. His ties to China also became a point of contention on the campaign trail..
