The wave of anti-Trump demonstrations isn’t Just in the U.S. But today protesters from Europe to North America joined coordinated “Hands Off!” rallies, targeting President Donald Trump’s policies and Elon Musk’s controversial Department of Government Efficiency reforms.
Where the protest took place
- London, UK: 200+ demonstrators packed Trafalgar Square, waving signs like “Keep your tiny orange hands off the world” and “Make lying wrong again.” Many were American expats.
- Germany: Hundreds gathered in Frankfurt and Berlin, holding banners that read, “Hands off social security.”
Protests also took place in Portugal, France, Mexico, and Canada, with many people criticizing Trump’s impact on human rights and economic policies according to CNN.
Timothy Kautz, a Democrats Abroad organizer in Frankfurt, told Reuters:
“We must stand with the thousands protesting in the U.S. today. Europeans need to see we don’t approve of what’s happening. If we don’t act now, this dangerous agenda will spread.”
The demonstrators reflect growing international concern about Trump’s potential return to power and his administration’s sweeping changes to federal workers’ rights and social programs.
