According to two Republicans familiar with the plans. The 1 p.m. meeting is expected to bring in key holdouts on the Senate-approved budget, which Speaker Mike Johnson aims to push through the House this week. Earlier in the day,

Johnson and GOP leaders tried to build support during a closed-door conference, telling members that if they advanced the plan now, both chambers could work out more details during the upcoming two-week.

However, frustration is building among Republicans. As Johnson put it, several members have already lined up at the microphones,

Ready to express their feelings about the strategy. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris of Maryland, who was invited to the White House meeting, told reporters he did not plan to attend, saying Trump should focus on convincing members “who might change their minds.” Meanwhile, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise confirmed plans to advance the budget process

But he acknowledged the concerns of hardliners on the House Judiciary Committee, whose support is crucial to the measure’s progress.
