A Tesla dealership in New York City became the latest flashpoint in a series of nationwide protests against Elon Musk, with demonstrators calling for his removal and urging a boycott of the company.

The wave of anti-Tesla protests reached New York City this weekend, with demonstrators chanting that Elon Musk “belongs in jail”

Protesters held signs reading “Fire Musk”, “Dump Elon, Save USAID”, and “Boycotting Tesla is not illegal”, accusing Musk of pushing far-right policies through his ties to the Trump administration. Some signs went further, mocking Tesla’s branding with Nazi imagery and claiming the company promotes white supremacy.

The demonstration is part of the growing “Tesla Takedown” movement, which has staged protests at dealerships across the country. The backlash is largely fueled by Musk’s involvement in Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has aggressively cut federal programs and jobs.

While many protests have remained peaceful, tensions have boiled over into violence. A Tesla dealership in Oregon was hit by gunfire twice last week, and multiple Tesla charging stations have been set on fire in recent days.

President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the attacks, calling them “domestic terrorism” and warning that authorities are tracking down those responsible.

“They’re hurting a great American company,” Trump said at the White House. “We’ve got a lot of cameras up, and when we catch them, they’re going to have a big problem.”
