MLN -31 JAN 2026: Federal health officials are investigating a multistate salmonella outbreak linked to two superfood supplements that has sickened at least 65 people across 28 states, including California, authorities said on Thursday.

The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the illnesses are associated with products sold under the Live It Up and Why Not Natural brands.

The supplements were sold through the companies’ websites and on major online marketplaces, including Amazon, eBay and Walmart. At least 14 people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

Investigators traced the contamination to moringa leaf powder used in both products. Health officials urged consumers and retailers to thoroughly clean and sanitize any surfaces, containers or utensils that may have come into contact with the supplements to prevent further spread.

The FDA advised anyone who purchased the super greens products with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 through January 2028, or the superfood capsules with a July 2028 expiration date, to stop using them immediately and discard them.

ā€œFDA is working with the firms to determine a root cause of the contamination and remove affected products from the market,ā€ the agency said in a statement.
