Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) on Sunday called on Democrats have to adopt a bold strategy that can win over voters, admitting in an interview that his party has often fallen short by not “thinking big” or “acting big.”

Speaking to NBC News‘ Kristen Welker on The Press Conference, Adam Schiff was asked about Senator Cory Booker’s (D-NJ) recent historic speech, during which Booker criticized his party for past defeats. Referring to President Trump, Booker said, “My party made terrible mistakes, and it led to this mess,” and urged Democrats to “look in the mirror and say we’re going to do better.”

“I absolutely agree with him,” Schiff responded. “I think we’ve been guilty of not thinking big and not acting big.”

Schiff went on to suggest that Democrats could learn a lesson from how Republicans have aggressively pursued their Trump agenda.

“What we’ve seen with the Trump administration is that you can move the country far and fast if you have the courage of your convictions and you’re willing to be bold,”

Sen Adam Schiff said. He criticized the Trump administration for moving “in a horribly dangerous, destructive direction, which is really hurting working families,” but emphasized that Democrats have no excuse not to push their own bold ideas. We have to do that. There’s nothing that succeeds like winning,” he added.

He Says that Democrats cannot rely on traditional tactics. “We can’t fight what they’re doing in a normal way. But in addition to pushing back hard and hard and for hours on like Cory Booker, we have to push hard for our big ideas.”

Sen Booker made history earlier this week with a marathon speech that lasted 25 hours and 18 minutes Protesting against Trump administration’s policies. He later explained that his decision to deliver the longest floor speech in Senate history was driven by constituents urging Democrats to take a stronger stand against Trump, according to The Hill
