Senate Majority Leader John Thune dismissed concerns about Donald Trump’s comments on a possible third term, suggesting the former president was simply toying with reporters. “You guys keep asking the question, and I think he’s probably having some fun with it,”
Thune said, emphasizing that Trump cannot serve beyond two terms “without a change in the Constitution.”
President Trump, however, has repeatedly floated the idea, most recently in an NBC News interview where he claimed “there are methods” to make it happen and insisted he was “not joking.” Meanwhile,
Thune also addressed ongoing budget negotiations, saying the Senate is still working on a resolution and coordinating with the parliamentarian before moving forward.
