Slovenia Imposes Travel Ban on Israeli PM Netanyahu — First EU State to Do So.

Share

Slovenia has imposed a travel ban on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, becoming the first European Union member state to bar him from entry.

The government said the decision was linked to Netanyahu’s role in Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and referenced ongoing proceedings at the International Criminal Court as well.

The move follows earlier actions by Slovenia, including declaring two Israeli ministers persona non grata in July and enforcing an arms embargo against Israel.

Slovenia has already formally recognized the State of Palestine last year and has since taken a series of diplomatic steps critical of Israeli policy.

Officials said the entry ban reflects the country’s commitment to international law and accountability in conflict.

Israel has not yet issued any response to Slovenia’s decision, which underscores divisions within the EU over how far member states should go in pressuring the Israeli government.
