The Associated Press has filed a lawsuit accusing the Trump administration of continuing to restrict access to White House media events. according to Reuters
The news agency has long been a regular part of the White House press pool, a small group of media invited to public events where space is limited and where the president is present.
But in February, the White House removed the Associated Press from the pool for using the term “Gulf of Mexico.” The Trump administration recently adopted the “Gulf of America” as the name the U.S. federal government will use for the same body of water.
That led to a court case, in which the Associated Press alleged that its First Amendment rights were limited by the Trump administration’s actions. The Trump team, meanwhile, said it had the right to determine how the press pool was structured.
On April 8, a federal judge ruled that the White House should restore access to the Associated Press. But the news agency has since said its reporters are still denied to enter the White House events.
