President Donald Trump disclosed Monday that he banned Jeffrey Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after the convicted sex offender repeatedly recruited spa workers, including Virginia Giuffre.
Speaking alongside UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Trump shared new details about ending his relationship with Epstein.
“He took people that work for me, and I told him, don’t do it anymore. And he did it. I said, ‘Stay the hell out of here,'” Trump explained.
The president confirmed the recruited workers were young women from Mar-a-Lago’s spa facility.
When asked about Virginia Giuffre specifically, Trump said: “I think she worked at the spa. I think so. I think that was one of the people, yeah. He stole her.”
Here timeline of events
Giuffre worked at Mar-a-Lago as a pool attendant in 2000. Ghislaine Maxwell recruited her that year to work for Epstein.
Giuffre became one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers. She died by suicide in April 2025.
Trump described warning Epstein after the first incident.
“I told him, ‘Listen, we don’t want you taking our people.’ And he was fine. And then not too long after that, he did it again. And I said, ‘Out of here.'”
This explanation varies from earlier reports about the Trump-Epstein split.
- A 2004 real estate dispute ended their friendship
- Epstein approached a member’s teenage daughter
- Trump called Epstein a “creep” after his 2009 conviction
President Trump Dismisses File Concerns
The president rejected claims he appears in Epstein documents.
“Those files were run by the worst scum on Earth. They were run by Comey, they were run by Garland, they were run by Biden,” Trump stated.
He argued any damaging information would have been released during the previous administration’s four-year control of the files.
Trump and Epstein attended social events together throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Photos show them at Mar-a-Lago parties and other gatherings.
In 2002, Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy” in a New York magazine interview.
The president now emphasizes he cut ties with Epstein years before the financier’s 2008 guilty plea for soliciting prostitution from a minor.
