Trump Says Murdochs and Dell Could Join U.S. Bid for TikTok

Donald Trump has suggested that Rupert Murdoch, his son Lachlan Murdoch, and technology executive Michael Dell could be among the American investors in a deal to take control of TikTok’s U.S. operations.

Trump said Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison is already part of the talks and indicated that Americans would hold six of seven seats on a restructured TikTok board.

The plan follows legislation requiring TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to divest its U.S. assets over national security concerns.

Negotiations are ongoing, with issues such as data management, ownership structure, and regulatory approval still unresolved. A deadline of December 16 has been set to complete the transaction.

Analysts caution that the deal could face significant hurdles, including scrutiny from regulators and challenges in securing agreement among the proposed U.S. investors.
