Trump Warns Cuba to Make Deal as Venezuelan Oil, Money Flow Ends

MLN — 11 JAN 2026: U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday announced that Venezuelan oil and financial support to Cuba would end and urged the Cuban government to negotiate with Washington “before it is too late.”

Trump made the statement on his Truth Social platform as part of a broader push on U.S. foreign policy in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Trump said that “there will be no more oil or money going to Cuba – zero!” and pressed the island nation to consider a deal with the United States to avoid further economic strain. Cuba has historically relied heavily on Venezuela for fuel and financial assistance.

The president’s comments come amid ongoing developments following U.S. actions in Venezuela earlier this month, which disrupted traditional oil flows and strained relations between Havana and Washington. Cuban officials have responded by defending their right to trade and calling U.S. pressure unfair.

Trump’s ultimatum adds new tension to U.S.–Cuba relations, with potential implications for energy supplies and the island’s already fragile economy as both sides assess their next steps.
