Tulsi Gabbard Revokes 37 Security Clearances Over Intelligence Politicization

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has terminated security clearances for 37 current and former officials accused of politicizing and manipulating intelligence.

An ODNI memo dated Monday states the President directed the immediate revocation of the clearances. The memo was first obtained by the New York Post.

Among those affected is Vinh Nguyen, a former top aide to Obama administration DNI James Clapper. The memo did not list all 37 individuals.

“Their access to classified systems, facilities, materials, and information is to be terminated forthwith,” the memo stated.

The directive also terminates any contracts or employment these individuals have with the U.S. Government. They must surrender credentials to security officers.

The memo cites several grounds for the revocations:

  • Politicization or weaponization of intelligence for personal or partisan agendas
  • Failure to safeguard classified information
  • Failure to adhere to professional analytic tradecraft standards
  • Conduct detrimental to trust required for security access

Tulsi Gabbard’s office determined these individuals engaged in conduct “undermining those standards” and “inconsistent with national security priorities.”

The action affects officials connected to the Russia collusion investigation during the previous administration.
